Online research interested in what can make you feel better in social situations

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
We are conducting a study looking at the types of treatment that you feel would best work for you in treating your social anxiety. We’re hoping to understand what would draw you to certain treatments and what would deter you from pursuing others. We are hoping that the information that you provide us will give us a better understanding of how to best match treatments for social anxiety with specific individual needs.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
People in Australia who are 18+ years of age who experience discomfort, difficulties or anxiousness when socialising to participate in our study looking at attitudes towards treatments for social anxiety.
WHAT YOU'LL BE ASKED TO DO
You will be asked to:
› Complete several online questionnaires that will be sent to you via email.
› Firstly, you will be asked to complete some screening questionnaires (x3).
› Then, you will be asked to complete the main study questionnaires (x3).
LENGTH OF THE STUDY
› The screening and study questionnaires altogether take around 35 minutes in total to complete.
REIMBURSEMENT
› For completing all questionnaires, you will have the chance to win 1 x AU$100 Prezzee eGift Card prizes (https://www.prezzee.com.au/); and
› The knowledge that you have contributed to scientific research that can hopefully help others with social anxiety find the best treatment for them in future.
This research is being conducted by Dr Simone du Toit (PhD in Clinical Psychology, School of Psychology, Western Sydney University [WSU] and Master of Psychology (Clinical) Candidate, School of Behavioural and Health Sciences, Australian Catholic University [ACU]) for her Masters project under the supervision of Dr Quincy Wong (Senior Lecturer in Psychological Science; School of Psychology, WSU) and Dr Keong Yap (National Course Coordinator (Postgraduate Psychology), Acting Deputy Head of School, and Assoc. Prof. for the Faculty of Health Sciences/School of Behavioural and Health Sciences/Psychology, ACU). All data will be kept confidential. The study is approved by the Western Sydney University Human Research Ethics Committee H13830.
